“Are my eyes still brown?”
Beau made pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream! Yumm.Oliver has been asking for a turtle cake for at least six months. Every so often he’ll say, “I’m going to have a turtle cake for my birthday!” He’s been so excited. We went online to look at different kinds and he very specifically wanted a sea turtle. He helped me decorate it. His favorite thing lately has been watching Jamie Oliver and helping me cook. This was such a special treat!
Then we went to the Japanese Garden because they have lots and lots of turtles, and Oliver loves it there! It was a perfect day for it because it was nice and hot and the turtles all came out to sun themselves. Finn skipped school, and Beau took some time off work so we could all go together. It was absolutely beautiful and everyone was happy. Magic! Then we went to the village to play with the turtle and frogs water fountain and out to dinner with my family at Din Tai Fung. I’m so sad I didn’t get a picture with the whole family! I was in Mama mode because Beau was getting his sailing rating at the last minute and I was shoveling dumplings into the boys mouths and helping them learn how to use chop sticks! My new favorite drink is a ginger lime drop. Oh heaven! We all came back to our house for presents, turtle cake, and a campfire in the garden. Oliver requested that there were no kids at his party, only family, because he is such a shy little guy. (At Finn’s birthday party full of kids he got pale with extroversion). But even without other kids Oliver had loads of presents to open! My parents and Lucy and Kris were SO generous. (And so was Nana, but she was in Cincinnati so Oliver opened her presents a couple weeks ago :)
