of birch, blue flowers, and bacon.

Yesterday I went over to my friend Liz’s house to partake in her beautiful white birch wood.  She has a giant stash from when they cut down a tree when they moved in.  You guys.  It’s so pretty!!  And it was FREE!!  I am so elated.  It goes perfectly with my newly painted white mantle.  I just can’t get over it.

And I tried out the stockings on the mantle tonight because the one for the baby came in the mail today!  It’s just as fuzzy and darling as I thought it would be.  It’s put tenderly back into the closet with the others until we trim the tree!

Also in the mail…my new rug!  And some shelving for the boys’ room. We were cleaning and organizing like crazy today.  The whole entire house has been rearranged.  It feels good but not quite comfortable yet.It goes great with the room.  I think I’m going to blow that picture of Beau and I on the beach in Greece (the tiny one on the wall) to match that one blue flower.  I LOVE IT SO!!

Hehe!…look at Oliver ;)

And I am now anemic.  I always lose iron when I’m pregnant.  It’s dumb. So I did something I’ve never done before tonight.  Two things actually.

  1.  cooked burgers.
  2.  cooked bacon.

I made bacon cheese burgers!  With caramelized red onions and coastal white cheddar!  Mooooo and Oink oink!  I have only ever made vegetarian burgers and up until now if Beau wanted bacon for breakfast he would have to cook it (and buy it) himself.  What’s happening to me?  It’s the baby…it wants meat!  And if you’re going to do something wrong: DO IT RIGHT.  (if you know to which 90’s sitcom I am referring you get a gold star!)

And one more thing.  Look what what hiding under a bush next to my parking spot at Finn’s preschool!  I love mushrooms.  Especially red spotted ones.

Oh and THIS.  Maryann sent me this link and she probably shouldn’t have.  Now I want to pet an owl more than to sleep eat and breathe.

  1. There is a real good herbal iron supplement for pregnancy through WishGarden Herbs. It’s a liquid and you just take a couple dropper fulls a day. It works well. :-) You can find it at most health food stores, but here is the link to their site: http://www.wishgardenherbs.com/index.php?load=pregnancy&page=index&group_id=2#Herbal Iron

Also, eat lot’s of spinach! It has alot of iron it it. I usually make green smoothies to get it in. Here is my recipe: http://happilydomestic.blogspot.com/2011/10/green-smoothie-recipe.html
Beats having to eat a ton of meat! ;-) Good luck.

  2. Your welcome! :-) And if you know anyone with a wholesale licence you can get anything from Wishgarden at half price (I think the min. order is only around $35 too). A friend of mine does and so orders for everyone. They have SO many good herbal supplements, etc. especially for pregnancy.

You’ll have to let me know if you try my green smoothie recipe. It’s pretty good and even my kids like it.
